Money has more value. I think that can be empirically observed. Most people who have lived over 100 years have achieved very little (business-wise) with their lives, whereas people born to extreme wealth can achieve a lot of the things they want to achieve a lot more easily than most other people. Money grants you equipment, training, education etc. and the more you have the more such benefits. Time does give you the opportunity to enhance your abilities so that you can make the most of the opportunities that DO arise, but money gives you a lot more opportunities so the odds are on the side of money.

For example an amazing poker player sat at the table with no money can win nothing. A crappy player with a hundred pounds/dollars has the worst case scenario of losing that money, in which case they are in the same situation as the guy with no money. Any other situation they leave the table with more. Obviously that ignores the question of what they had to do to get the money to begin with.
