I think Porcupine Tree can be too riff-addicted, but it's still a decent album, just not great. I've never heard Give Up so I honestly couldn't say what I think of it. I just thought that Digital Ash in a Digital Urn was littered with awkward allusions and clunky couplets and just fails in a mess of pretension.

Well, Digital Ash isn't exactly Oberst's strongest songwriting, but it's all about the electronics on here. The band does a great job of integrating the two sounds. If you don't like the riff-focused sound of Deadwing Fear Of A Blank Planet goes away from that pretty decisively.
