Calling Sonic Youth a grunge band is silly, to be sure, but they were quite involved in that scene, in terms of influencing and being influenced. Grunge and no wave were major parts of Sonic Youth's development, though they are hardly a grunge band or a no wave band.

Daydream Nation is a candidate for greatest album ever, in my opinion.

Washing Machine are all also quite brilliant, but
