When I say the word "you" here, I don't mean specifically you but... its not about you. How many times you've heard something doesn't change the music at all. The question is, how did you feel the first time you heard it, and the solo in Enter Sandman is mindblwoing.
For the record, I've never read a positive review of that song. ever. and I'm a huge fan of their work.

I think thats exactly right. If you were looking for Thrash with the Black Album, thats your own fault. Is it a good thrash album? no. Its also not a good jazz, country, or folk album but no one ever asks that question despite is being just as reasonable.
There was nothing like The Black Album pre-Balck Album and just because it was mildly responsible for the universe of **** it unleashed on modern rock radio does not mean that it was bad. Truth be told if there wasn't a Black Album and a RATM S/T we likely wouldn't have had Godsmack and their ilk, but who can be sure when experimenting with nature what manner of aberations will come out?
