I'm not sure where I stand on triggers being cheating for sure but I'd say that you can't really compare them to guitar pedals...unless you're using triggers strictly for reproduced sound of a drum you don't have. Otherwise, triggers used to falsely speed up or double... oh s*#t, I just remembered pedals make echo's and vibrato's and "slap back" and stuff... nevermind.
