Really?!!? what rock\metal song wouldn't sound better with a couple of extra kicks?

It may sound good with the d*#k drummin but if their not slamming it better than the other 10 bands with the "silver shlong drum solo" then they'll never leave the warehouse. Funny though...

This is why drummers aren't allowed creative control over their bands.

Nah, I'd say it's more like ROCK and metal.

I'm talking about the vast majority of rock/metal, which wouldn't benefit from extra kicks despite what cantankerous drummers might think.

Saying drum triggers are cheating is like saying guitar pedals and multipads are cheating.

Im not sure they're comparable. I know Alex Van Halen used a "cheater" pedal on Hot For Teacher though.

I'm not sure where I stand on triggers being cheating for sure but I'd say that you can't really compare them to guitar pedals...unless you're using triggers strictly for reproduced sound of a drum you don't have. Otherwise, triggers used to falsely speed up or double... oh s*#t, I just remembered pedals make echo's and vibrato's and "slap back" and stuff... nevermind.

I guess I think triggers are a bit cheaty if you're just using it to do whatever it is you do a bit easier. If you use it to free up a foot so that you can add more to what you're doing, then I don't think it's cheating ..

Everything is relative.

You can use loop pedals to make what you're playing sound far more complex than it really is. You can also use trill peddles to sound faster than you really are. Really, it is no different.
