It's been a while since I had seen this and I was reminded how damn good it is. Effects are only part of the story as identity and acceptance is a major component of the film and it's handled intelligently.
The opening nightcrawler scene still looks bloody fantastic and it's continuation of character over effects is to be applauded.
I will admit to thinking this was a trashy B movie about crocodiles. Instead it's a low budget, low key but very well constructed true tale of 3 people stranded with only a croc for company in the swamps of Australia. Much better than I thought it would be.
A very intriguing premise of the public frustration of criminal injustice. However it collapses in on itself in the last half hour and loses focus and becomes a standard revenge movie. Was completely shocked to find a few scenes shot in my home town not 20 minutes walk away from my house!
