I really like some of the more lounge oriented material on Preliminaries. Iggy has a far better song stylist and ballad singer than most folks give him credit for. You can hear Iggy the Crooner on How Insensitive, Les feuilles mortes, I Want to Go To the Beach, and Spanish Coast. Granted, Iggy is no Frank Sinatra, but he gives Jim Morrisson a good run for the money as a balladeer.

All things considered it's the most consistent studio effort in several years from one of rock music's most notoriously erratic artists. It's one of the most notable albums of 2009 and I hope more people give it a listen.
