it took me a few hours to figure out what was going on when this first came out but it's quite rewarding if you like really slow paced sandbox games. i found it really hard to play as anything besides a trader, especially at the start, it's no wing commander. autopilot is your friend, same with time acceleration.
my biggest gripe was the limited random missions and the size of the text. seriously if it's going to be displayed in a window with a potential scroll bar please allow users to allocate a font size, this goes for all games.
i really enjoyed building up your own fleet though (even if mine were piddly - 1 transport ship, 2-3 light fighter escorts) but my old pc would chug and crash if combat became too extensive (more than 2 opponents). haven't re-installed it on my current pc since the initial release was cd only, takes about an hour to install the 6 discs worth of stuff.
as for Titan Quest and its expansion, it's the best clickfest since Diablo2.
