Buddy Holly proves that not to be the case, but I mean when The Beatles started coming into their own as songwriters, they raised that bar even higher. Revolver had string quartets in, Indian music. So experimental and the sounds to come out of it were something I've never heard before The Beatles came along. Maybe it's because I haven't heard much music from before the early/mid 60s, or maybe they were just that good..
If you'd like to suggest bands that were more innovative than The Beatles who raised the bar and gained wide success, I'd be happy to listen. I just think The Beatles were that good though..
Even though I can understand the annoyance for people and their fanboys, it can put off even the most rational man from liking bands.
