As a result they fit well in both the "suck" and the "overrated" threads.
I think they were the first band to really break the mould, in terms of success, raising the bar and the actual sounds. I dunno how you can't listen to Revolver and not think that it's ground breaking. I'm obviously a massive Beatles fan but I can't stand Beatle fans that have a go at anyone for disliking the band, like it's some sin. But to say they suck is just ridiculous IMO. Overrated? Not for me, but sure.. If you want.

What does that even mean? Do you not think other people were successful or raised the bar or made actual sounds before them?

Buddy Holly proves that not to be the case, but I mean when The Beatles started coming into their own as songwriters, they raised that bar even higher. Revolver had string quartets in, Indian music. So experimental and the sounds to come out of it were something I've never heard before The Beatles came along. Maybe it's because I haven't heard much music from before the early/mid 60s, or maybe they were just that good..

If you'd like to suggest bands that were more innovative than The Beatles who raised the bar and gained wide success, I'd be happy to listen. I just think The Beatles were that good though..

Even though I can understand the annoyance for people and their fanboys, it can put off even the most rational man from liking bands.

Here's the thing that always happens in conversations about the Beatles, the person singing their praises always bring up their level of popularity as something to top, I'm not sure why. Obviously, they're one of the most popular rock bands of all time, I'm not disagreeing with you there. As far as innovation though? Meh. I think that case has been so overstated for so long that people just assume it's true. I certainly find someone like Juan García Esquivel or Sun Ra a hell of a lot more innovative (and more interesting) than the Beatles, and they were doing it earlier.

That's been mentioned quite a bit.

I personally think that the band Dragonforce sucks. After seeing a live performance, I wanted to take their instruments away from them. They suck.

That alone doesn't annoy me, it's when people try to and quote "prove" it that pisses me off.

The ridiculous extremes people go to to discredit Zeppelin is just... ridiculous. I have discredited a lot of myths that people continue to spread about the band and every time it happens on this thread the more intolerant I get.

I remember one guy ranting (not on this site) about how Achilles Last Stand was a shameless ripoff of Barracuda by Heart. This of course means that Zeppelin had somehow gained the abillity to time travel to the year 1977 when Little Queen was released because Presence came out in 1976.

^ That is just ridiculous. There is no point of proving them wrong if they don't even have common sense.

I'm glad that people are starting to get this thread. I've gotten a little tired of people constantly posting bands like The Beatles and The Clash because they think that makes them edgy.

People don't have to state the obvious like Nickelback but they can at least try and think of some genuinely terrible bands that everyone can agree on instead of trying to troll.

Like here's one off the top of my head.

Trapt. Remember them?
