These days I don't bother doing any of that & most of my friends have much more important priorities than talking about & following music. My only contact with what's happening comes from the odd snippet on TV or radio & this forum.
I like having the freedom to listen to albums both past & present with pretty much no expectations.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. What you've described is basically my main reason for being a part of this forum. Very few of my friends are still as into talking about music as they used to be so MB is my outlet. Humorously enough, I joined this site about six weeks after I turned 30 and about 3 weeks before I got married. I didn't choose that time intentionally but in retrospect it totally makes sense that I joined when I did.
