Weirdly enough, I managed to keep myself fit even on 20 a day - I was easily able to do my 4 mile runs each morning. It's bloody arthritis, not smoking that's cut them down! But good for you - it's sucky giving up vices but in the long term it's worthwhile, as you've proven. Probably, because I did keep myself fairly fit and healthy (ate properly, lots of water in amongst my tea and coke, excercising, etc) the smoking never figured to be that much of a bother. Now I actually have a reason, so it's a lot easier to keep with it. Plus it's pretty nice not to wake up in the morning feeling like I've eaten an ashtray!
