A couple of months ago two children tragically died in their home due to a gas leak. The leak took place over about two days, with the family getting sicker and sicker before the two children passed away before being taken to a doctor/hospital. Both parents were smokers, and there was a lot of discussion about how the parents may not have smelt the leak because a lot of smokers' sense of smell greatly diminishes after being a smoker for an extended period of time.
