It depends on how similar it is.
In the case of Genesis, they've gone through one of the most drastic evolutions in style of any band in rock history.
Just because you don't like Phil's solo material is a pretty retarded reason to write off an era of the band's history that sounds NOTHING like that stuff and an era where Phil wasn't even the frontman of the f*cking band.

Which albums were they? And that is an important question because if it was something like Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance that is generally regarded as their weakest material and isn't definitive of the band's work at all, then I can't take you very seriously if you're gonna write off the whole band without even
trying to give the music people actually give a f*ck about a chance.
