Agreed, considering that early Rush were very much a hard rock band that had read a lot more Tolkien and Asimov than they really needed to. They were always a far better prog band though than a hard rock one anyway. They made the successful transition to a more pop orientated sound, through the prog transitional albums of "Permanent Waves" and "Moving Pictures" and I don`t think too many people noticed.
