Like most groups of their ilk they played some lighter easier going stuff, but Cream in essence were a blues rock group, that combined this with hard rock and psychedelic rock and played it quite loud. They were a power trio that helped influence a lot of hard rock groups in the 1970`s and even more importantly set the stage for Jimi Hendrix to do his thing in the late 60`s. They were in fact, a supergroup of already highly respected rock musicians of a blues background and by the way they are just known as Cream and not the Cream!
I also suggest you forget drawing up your concise and well thought out rock family trees
and just keep it nice and basic. For example Beatles> Music or some such nonsense.....Otherwise, we`ll end up getting something totally ridiculous like Beatles> Fill in the gaps > Korn
Anyway, no charge for the brief history lesson regarding Cream, but if you feel lost again just holler away.
