High School Talent shows - good thing, helps growing minds find their niche, and get instant feedback. Many of which are deciding a path for the future.
TV talent shows - Garbage. Does nothing but hurt music since it focuses entirely on expressing people with a singular talent(singing) duplicating unoriginal formulas. Which, in turn, results in boring artists, who couldn't make it without the help of a TV show, producing bad CDs that outsell the people actually honing their craft and moving music into a positive direction.
