I think he can still write a terrific script and Inglourious Basterds exemplified that. Col. Hans Landa and Lt. Aldo Raine being two of his greatest characters. I laughed more during Basterds than any of his other movies. Sure, it didn't all tie together as beautifully as Pulp Fiction, but I thought the story remained a clever one...
