I should have known there'd be a Lady Gaga thread on this forum. I'm of two minds about Gaga. On the one hand, I recognize and love her great subversiveness as an entertainer and media figure in the pop music realm. One the other hand, I really don't think she has anything new to offer us musically other than warmed over Christina Aguilera redux with occasional house music trappings and a touch of EBM influence.
That said, I love blogger Lesley Kinzel's close reading of some of Gaga's videos and parsing of her media image, particularly in this entry about Gaga's video for "Alejandro" (
horrible song, interesting clip) in comparison to some of Madonna's formerly groundbreaking/subversive imagery.
