Ashlee Smpson (Autobiography 2004) Geffen Records

I just bought this album last week after hearing how damn good I am Me was.
It is a lot more about Ash's relationships than about her personally. Which is a different approach but is still good all the same. Her vocals on all songs a awesome, she shows real feeling and deep emotion on all songs and it not afraid to say what she thinks.

I also luv the rock, pop, feel on every song. till when the drums start up 2 when they stop. My particularly favourite songs are "LaLa" "Better Off" "Love makes the world go round" and "Shadow" even though I like all of em equally anyway.

The songs are real catchy 2 sumthin' you can sit back and let it take you into her world. Its like being in heaven itself its that good!

I give this album a Definite 10/10. I'm usually a big rap supporter and sumthing like this that is completely different that I got hooked on his a big change for me.

There are 13 songs on this album
as follows
1.Autobiography
2.Pieces of Me
3.Shadow
4.LaLa
5.Love makes the World go Round
6.Better Off
7.Love for Me
8.Surrender
9.Unreachable
10.Nothing New
11.Giving it all Away
12.Undiscovered
13. Harder Everyday

Luv you ashlee!keep doin' ya thing girl.

hmm...I smell a street teamer. But I actually liked this album.

Son of JayJamJah 07-31-2007 07:53 PM

Awful, it's hardly music, so overproduced and cliche.

mozartv 08-01-2007 12:28 PM

fanboy.......or girl

littleliza 10-05-2007 12:24 AM

I liked lala... for about 10 minutes. I really cant stand her... I dunno what it is.

pheurton 10-05-2007 09:40 AM

lol

Frances 10-05-2007 11:37 PM

lol indeed.

Wayfarer 10-06-2007 12:00 AM

Why are you alive?

Frances 10-06-2007 12:02 AM

Who are you talking to?

I'm alive because I continue to eat, drink, breathe, sh!t and piss.

Wayfarer 10-06-2007 12:09 AM

Ahhh no, I was talking to the cacktease that started the thread. Judging from your username...I'm going to assume you like The Mars Volta. And therefore you are awesome.

Lol yes. Could not be any MORE cliche for a teenage girl to be singning about. And talk about over produced... She came up with nothing but the lyrics to her song (and they pretty much suck)

=ladyface= 10-08-2007 11:26 AM

I actually bought this album on the strength of a couple of the singles and I was really disappointed. I don't know what I was expecting from the album tracks but I didn't get it.

sleepy jack 10-08-2007 04:38 PM

It really annoys me when people bash Ashlee Simpson for writing her own lyrics, despite how 'bad' they are at least she writes her own lyrics which is more than most of the pop industry can say currently.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-09-2007 06:02 PM

To me it makes no difference whatsoever if someone writes their own lyrics / songs or not. What matters to me is how it sounds at the end.
I don't really care if the guy who wrote the song is singing it , producing it , arranging the entire string section for it , or sitting on his arse in an office somewhere.
If you write your own lyrics that are great then good for you , but if they're terrible it's probably best to let the rest of the band have a shot , or a producer or a songwriter.

sleepy jack 10-09-2007 06:12 PM

Yeah but keep in mind this is the american pop world the lyrics shes competing with are along the lines of "Every time they turn the lights down / just wanna go that extra mile for you / you got my display of affection / feels like no one else in the room but you / we can get down like theres no one around /we keep on rockin." Her lyrics don't 'suck' in comparison to that, even though they're mediocre at best.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-09-2007 06:23 PM

They don't strike me as being particularly good or bad , they just sound like typical pop lyrics that do the job.

=ladyface= 10-10-2007 10:48 AM

Ditto. I don't analyse the lyrics of this sort of thing; if the tune's good I'm happy. I do respect Ashlee Simpson for giving her own lyrics a go though.

Yea, an absolutely ****ty job.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-11-2007 01:31 AM

That's disappointing,

I would have thought with you being a Chili Peppers fan you'd be sympathetic to simple made music. And lets face it you don't get more simple than writing 2 songs in the last 17 years , a slow one and a fast one.

This is why I wish we had a reputation system on here. :p:

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-11-2007 08:09 AM

I know , all that popularity would be embarrassing

PunkyElle 10-11-2007 11:05 AM

Ashlee Simspon makes me remember why the world is such a sh***y place.

pheurton 10-14-2007 06:55 AM

So Tell Me Baby sounds like If You Have To Ask? Dani California sounds like Under The Bridge?

I thought it was commonly known by know Dani California sounds like Mary Jane's Last Dance.

Anyway, you can take even the most generic band name and say "Song A doesn't sound like Song B." While in reality they still have songs C,D,E,F,G,H and I that all sound like song A and the same can be said for Song B.

Dr_Rez 10-14-2007 08:14 PM

my point is if any band can pride itself in having diversity in its songs, its them. Slow songs to fast rap songs...id say thats pretty different. I have a feeling he doesnt like them cus he thinks there to mainstream now

Actually it's only the drumming which is similar, and it's a basic beat so...But whether or not it sounds like Tom Petty is irrevelant to the discussion. There's not a single song on BSSM that sounds like Dani California, Tell Me Baby, Slow Cheetah, Charlie...I could go on and on.

Bowie ? Radiohead ? The Cure ? The Clash ? Roxy Music ? I could go on.

The reason I can't stand this band are pretty simple , everytime I hear some boring middle of the road stadium rock dirge on the radio it's always followed by the same 11 words

"That was the new single by the red hot chili peppers"

Im hoping you realize that 99% of there music has rarely or never been played on the radio. They have over 400 songs of which the majority have never seen a glimpse of airtime.

They don't even have 400 songs and are you serious? I mean its obvious that was a made up percentage but they've had a number of hits over the years. Dani California, Under the Bridge, Californication, Fortune Faded, Otherside, Scar Tissue, Can't Stop, By the Way, etc. I'm not even a fan and I can name a handful that i've heard on the radio frequently.

ProggyMan 10-14-2007 08:44 PM

It's ridiculous to say that they're not mainstream, as has already been argued.

Unrealeased, Bside, covers, and released they have over 400. And theres probably more i dont know about.

Ad the percentage obviously wasnt exact, it was to make a point.

edit: Theres what.. maybe 20-30 songs that have been big radio songs from them. Thats a pretty small amount compared to what they have made. And they have had a few hundred actually released studio songs.

Who says I only hear them on the radio?
Just a few weeks ago I had to endure every single boring minute of Stadium Arcadium when a guy I work with was playing it in the office.

Live covers don't count as for unreleased and b-sides even assuming they had twice the amount they put on albums you're still short.

Lets assume about 15 songs an album, the last one was a double album so thats 10 albums. 15 times ten is 150. Lets assume they record twice the amount they release, that would still only be 300. I highly doubt they've been on one hundred compilations and my generalizations on b-sides were very generous. It would probably be more accurate to say 200 than 400.
