this and One Hot Minute (being the clinically depressed black sheep in the Chili's back catalogue) are the only ones I would still listen to, having been a total fanatic when I was younger loving every album. this was obviously their big transition into classic melody, leaving the funk/metal thing behind slightly.
the title track has pretty much everything i'd want from a pop song - cool changes, good lyrics and no showboating. lav iiiit |
I very much like this album.

HI
I love to hear them . |
Here is a few more tid-bits about this album. The lyrics for Californication was actually penned in 1991 during the writing process for Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
Great B-Sides of the album include: Gong Li, Instrumental 1 & 2, Teatro Jam, Phat Dance, Over Funk, Quixoticelixer, How Strong, and Bunkerhill, which wasn't recorded until the By the Way album and was on a Fortune Faded B-Side. |

I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Californication is a good album, but is by no means a classic. For me, this album doesn't come close to BSSM or OHM for that matter. Old rhcp were better.
