While I’ll give you that the lyrics can be abysmal, “I’m fine and dandy with the “me” inside” (who went therapy here? Metallica or Weezer) I disagree about the song.

Occasionally pop songs are as well orchestrated as good classical, and I think this is an example. While I don’t have the ability to listen to the song as I write this, and use specific references, Weezer has mastered the art of brilliant harmonics, not only with their instruments, but with group vocal harmonies as well.

I’m not faulting you for your opinion, but I’m wondering if other criteria are being weighed more heavily than craft.

This is by no means a masterpiece; it doesn’t really get better as you listen to it more often. In fact, going back to those lyrics, those ones that really suck become more prominent and burrow into your skull until you want to graph your ears off, but those first three listens are the stuff dreams, unicorns, marketing budgets and kidz bop albums are built upon.

This album has fallen out of rotation for me. I'll give it another spin for a few weeks and see if anything clicks.

Weezer has been on a constant decline ever since their blue album. to prove this listen to the song "buddy holly", then listen to "troublemaker" or "beverly hills" and you'll see what I mean.

agree, this album was good for fans but not an album that will convert non fans (such as the green albums brilliant "Island in the Sun")

Weezer for me are like Foo Fighters. I either love their songs or can't stand them. I find this album boring.

This album is a major dissapointment. The second half of the album seems very rushed and Rivers Cuomo's songwriting skills really have disappeared

This was an excellent review of one of my favorite bands! I was not a huge fan of this album though; but you do a great job of track-by-track listing. My favorite Weezer album is the "Green Album" {Weezer} , the one with "Hash Pipe" on it. Cool 2 C Weezer fans here! Rock on

I always liked Weezer .. I don't like when the band fixated, it's cool when they made something controversial. In my opinion this is one of the essential qualities of talented musicians
