I am sometimes not even sure what post rock is. Agree with the lack of hooks but that to me was what it was all about, the atmospherics. I was actually surprised by the sound as it was like nothing that I had heard before in the ambient genre and that to me made it enjoyable. After Roygbiv's comment it made me wonder if I have been missing something, that this was a fairly common style.

As I stated I personally think it shares very few traits with Post Rock and comes from an alternative background as opposed to a Rock orientated background. Post Rock is generally about peaks and troughs whereas Mice Parade sort of 'float'. Terrible description but the best I can come up with! I'm glad you liked the album though.

Maybe listen to Zero 7 or mum.
Specially mum, and specially their debut LP "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today is OK"

Have a couple of Zero 7 albums and quite like them but Mum are a name that I have heard a lot but never got around to checking out. They are not another Sigur Ros clone though are they?

Far from it, though just like Sigur Ros they tried to mainstream their sound and became horrible, so just make sure you listen to their debut.

If you're skeptical about the band, listen to "I'm 9 Today" or "Awake On A Train" to get a feel for the album. There are links to the album online, easy as hell to find, or I can share the album if you'd like.

Could you send me the Mice Parade album? I just found this thread (and forum) and I think it's an awesome idea. I found the first album that was reviewed and that didn't do it for me. It was a very unique sound, I won't deny that, but not particularly my type of music. Mice Parade looks like it will be more my thing. I'll write a review tonight after work. Thanks!
