Default Manfred Mann's Earth Band - The Roaring Silence(1976)

Manfred Mann's Earth Band's 1976 album The Roaring Silence, is perhaps one of my favorite prog rock albums of all time. I personally think it is a masterpiece, but in America it seems to be one of those forgotten albums, save for the fact people still know the ever popular cover of Bruce Springsteen's Blinded By The Light. Which continues to be a staple of the classic rock radio format. Even with the success that song saw, reaching number one on the billboards hot 100, the album never charted. With Starbird(Labeled on the single as Starbird No.2) being the B-side to the Blinded By The Light single release.

The album goes past that, a personal favorite would be Singing The Dolphin Through with it's soothing style and long instrumental passages it certainly pulls you in and holds you in your seat. A perfect follow up to the opening track. As well as a great lead in to Waiter, There's A Yawn In My Ear.

The albums closes with Questions, which as soon as it begins, you know it is the perfect closing song they could have chosen, while also leaving you wanting more. The guitar melodies are peaceful and intune with the vocals.

Overall I'd give this album 9/10. It's a solid album and all the songs are well put together, and the order is exquisite. I would certainly pull this album out of anyone's record collection and put it on.

^ I agree with your comments with regard to this album. I once wrote the first part of a biography of Manfred Mann's Earth Band for a forum, but it never saw the light of day.

I quite liked this album also and their previous album that was perhaps a less commercial success, but just as good. Nightingales And Bombers is a fantastic album also!
