Default Weezer: Thank God For Girls/Do You Wanna Get High?

Weezer has been a band I have liked, but not all of their work is enjoyable. "Ratitude and "The Red Album" are some of my least favorites. It was only until "Everything Is Alright In The End" came out that I thought Weezer was saved! The album is great, and I recommend the album. When I heard a new single came out, I was ready. Weezer's bad past was behind them and they were gonna be back to the basics. We instead got a god awful song called "Thank God For Girls."

It's not the worst, but it is in the top 10 worst. The lyrics are supposed to be funny, but they make no sense. The instrumentation is just bland. I never thought there was a great point in the song. There is one part about dragons and warriors. It comes out of nowhere and ruins the first verse. The bridge talks about Adam and Eve. The song isn't religious but they just start talking about them. Why? Also, there is a lyric about looking at women's underwear. WTF. I have nothing wrong with weird songs, but this is horrible. It switches topics over and over. Horrible. 2/5.

After that I had no hope. It seemed like Weezer went back to the same s*** they did on "The Red Album." Then "Do You Wanna Get High"came out.

This song is the opposite of what the last song was. It at least keeps a theme, and the instrumentation is great. I like the raw guitar with drums. The chorus is catchy and the verses are very good. I recommend it to anyone. 4/5.

Let's just see what's next for Weezer. Hopefully, not more stuff like "Thank God For Girls."

Interesting review. I say that because I have the scores switched around for the tracks. Thank God For Girls feels like something that Weezer should put out. Its no where near as generic as I wanna get high is. Maybe I Wanna Get High will grow on me but we shall see. Hope to see an album from these guys early next year though.

This band wore out their appeal, at least for me, before I was even out of school. But they know what works for them and it has kept them relevant.
