I take it that you like their music, so that's a recommendation in itself.

Their best album in my humble opinion is Kid A. Though the one that seems to get more widely praised is Ok Computer. So that's where I'd say to start. Personally I found Moon Shaped Pool boring. Though people seem to love it so you may too.

Thanks, blankmind - I took your advice and have just listened to Kid A. On first run-through, I like National Anthemn, Optimistic and Idioteque best; luckily I found YouTube clips with subtitles for most songs because although Thom Yorke's voice comes through high and clear, I couldn't make out much of what he was saying. Maybe that's because the lyrics are idiosyncratic and unpredictable, which is all good of course.

For some reason I had expected their music to be more innovative, but now, instead, I understand why the word "boring" also turns up amid all praise. I don't hear anything groundbreaking or controversial - just some well-crafted electronic rock. Still, definitely worth a second listen...

I thought it was a little boring, tbh. It felt like one drawn out sigh. The arrangements were creative for the individual songs, but as a whole it felt drawn out and a bit boring.

I think you should try each of their albums if you get the chance. I'm a full-blown Radiohead fan right now, and I found that I got into each of their albums individually (except for Pablo Honey), but not immediately upon hearing it. For example, I did not understand the hype surrounding Kid A nor In Rainbows, but as time went on I grew to really enjoy them in turn. Right now I'm moving away from Radiohead, but I had a great time digging deep into their discography.

Personal rec: Amnesiac. An odd little collection that IMO is one of the most underrated and pretty much the only Radiohead album that I thought was really good initially and hasn't changed at all.

I saw them in June, Stockholm, first time ever. It is one of the best concerts I've seen. Absolutely awesome.

This album is a slog. Radiohead, once the most innovative BIG band in the world according to rock press have not shown any innovation in 15+ years. this album is the worst of it.

Frankly, they were never innovative. They started out by piggy backing off the success of alternative rock. They then transitioned over into electronica and did what the electronic bands before them did. With this album they just went in an ambient direction and.... it was unoriginal boring music.

I'm not bashing Radiohead, I love and adore Kid A as well as Amnesiac.

I think Radiohead had some brilliant ideas along the way and I have LOVED and obsessed over some of their work in the past so don't get me wrong. But at this point AMSP begs the question 'how many paranoia-doom-10-ton-cloud-of-regret-and-sadness-rock albums do we need from any one particular group or artist?" The answer for me is one and this one is certainly not their best so I have no patience for it. It is like hearing a friend complain about the same topic over and over again. Eventually you forget that you relate or sympathize and eventually grow weary of the repetition. also, our culture is providing mountains of music that more firmly and astutely address these feelings without the mockery of celebrity attached to the subject matter ie vaporwave and related genres

I love Radiohead. However, I have to admit being mildly disappointed with this outing. The version of 'True Love Waits' here pales to the live guitar oriented version I have listened to for years. I like some of the songs here, but I don't find a single one compelling. In fact, I like the recently released 'I promise' better than anything here. Yeah, its simple, straightforward, but still I find myself listening to it a lot more to anything here.
