Can posting pictures to ridicule replies be made against the rules? No, nobody just did that to me. I'm not sure it's happened to me here. But I do see it happen once in a while, and my observation is that when it happens on forums, it never leads to good things. Wastes bandwidth too, I suppose.

Well, I got no serious feedback on that suggestion.

What about a mention in the "Newcomers Guide" that members probably aren't as hostile as they seem?

Are you as hostile as you seem? If yes, I'm not sure I can justify posting that comment in the newcomers guide.

C'mon, man - it's a good idea, easy to do. Phrase however you like. Maybe similar to, "Members might seem grumpy at times, but they rarely mean any harm and welcome anyone who wants to make intelligent music talk." Or a moderator who posts often could put something like that in his sig.
