You only get shot down by others if you start getting abusive when you don't have your own way or if you suddenly start spouting rubbish about stuff you plainly know nothing about.

You might irritate a few people if you piss on a few sacred cows , but as far as i'm concerned that's healthy. As long as you know what your talking about and back up your reasoning without throwing your toys out of the pram and have conviction in what your saying nobody can argue with that.

People overstate the hostility here , it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be.

I have no problem with what people want to listen to.
It's when you start making outrageous claims about these bands is when i'll get involved. And I don't care if it's the most throwaway of pop bands or the biggest rock bands on earth. Nothing should be sacred and everything has it's pluses and minuses.

The internet by nature is a breeding ground for ignorance. So to expect much beyond that is tiresome. Now that my cynical assessment has been spoken I really respect your effort to try and clean up the forum.

ProggyMan 12-03-2008 09:40 PM

How ironic of you.

Roygbiv 12-03-2008 09:42 PM

Maybe this has been mentioned before, but can the power to upgrade to a bigger size avatar be allowed for people with a certain number of posts? That way we don't have to bother moderators for the favor.

Comus 12-04-2008 02:14 AM

Haha I posted in the wrong thread with this idea: I want more than 50 PMs, you could create another usergroup for members who *cough* contribute to the forum in a certain *cough* way if you get what I mean *wink wink* not that the forum *cough* condones such activities.

Janszoon 12-04-2008 02:58 AM

I know vBulletin has the ability to show users all the new posts since their last visit. It would be great if this feature were turned on so that we could see all new posts without having to click through each individual forum looking for them.

Comus 12-04-2008 03:06 AM

New posts at the top... also todays' posts in the quick links, again at the top.

The way I've seen it set up before is as a little link in the upper right of the main page called "New Posts Since Your Last Visit".

Comus 12-04-2008 05:28 AM

I've seen that too, but it's kind of redundant with all the other stuff.

I like that idea.

muqti 12-05-2008 05:20 AM

the site should have vbbux/vbplaza

Zarko 12-05-2008 05:45 AM

Which is what exactly?

We already have that in place.

You get 200 when you become a mod :D

Akira 12-05-2008 10:32 AM

Urban's is 300 to account for extra love mail.

Haha dude only 200?

Most places mods have like 60k, whatever the excel maximum is 65454 or whatever, some multiple of 8. And normal members have like 1000.

It'll be 65535... sounds like we should protest for more because I've approached my inbox capacity almost 3 times this year and my capacity is 1500 on another forum. :D

One of my MB gripes is that it shows a user as being online for up to an hour after their last action... so then people think mods are being lazy when it shows them as being online yet the forum is being spammed, journal entries aren't being approved and PMs aren't being acknowledged since no-one is actually around.

This pisses me off too.

Double X 12-06-2008 07:55 AM

Am I crazy or does stickied threads show new posts when there actually is none???

Akira 12-06-2008 08:26 AM

If someone votes in a thread but doesnt post it still comes up as on New Posts

Double X 12-06-2008 10:17 AM

oh! Thanks

4ZZZ 12-13-2008 05:24 PM

I find the search tools a touch frustrating. For example I search "gastr del sol" and receive this message.

Quote:

The search term you specified (del) is under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.

If this term contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.
Maybe I am doing it wrong?

sleepy jack 12-13-2008 05:46 PM

Just search "gastr" instead.

jackhammer 12-13-2008 06:51 PM

If it is less than 4 leters search in google instead. Type in your search term and ad musicbanter.

FaSho 12-13-2008 07:54 PM

I wish you could to a thread title search.

Go advanced ;)

FaSho 12-15-2008 03:20 PM

Ahh I see.

dac 12-28-2008 12:47 AM

In the subtitle area for the Thread Graveyard it says "thing" instead of "think."

That bugs me for whatever reason.

Well I am diagnosed as mildly OCD... So outlook for you = not good ;)

Alfred 12-29-2008 12:50 PM

It bugs me too.

Akira 12-29-2008 12:52 PM

I would have thought someone with OCD would have read all the threads on here and therefore known that the graveyard thread issue had already been mentioned.

:p:

FaSho 12-29-2008 12:53 PM

You guys pay that much attention to the thread graveyard?

Well it's right there on the front page...

right-track 12-30-2008 04:32 AM

For long suffering victims of OCD the Thread Graveyard spelling error fixed.
Thanks Yac.

dac 12-30-2008 12:06 PM

Amazing. Thank you.

zflor 01-09-2009 04:50 AM

Y is it that i've posted far more than 9 post but my post as of last nite, this is my 2nd so far, still show "9 post" previously in another thread?

Piss Me Off 01-09-2009 04:53 AM

Lounge and Introduction Forum posts don't count.

zflor 01-09-2009 05:36 AM
