I am a member of a forum that operates this way - when you first join you don't know who the mods are. Usernames are all the same colour and there are no global or section moderators listed anywhere on the site. However, there is absolutely no advantage to this because as you post more, you tend to figure out who the mods are - whether it slipped out in a post, they said it themselves, or process of elimination with regular members. Then it just becomes like every other forum on the Internet.
