Maybe it doesn't matter much if I come here less, but if a lot of people feel the same, it could be a problem.

I basically feel the exact same way concerning, reading and replying to most topics anymore.

I personally, would just rather back off and leave all the drama to those that insist on confronting a basic limitation rule with argumentation. Its just not worth it to me if someone is going to be upset or offended over such a trivial matter.

Youtube videos include titles.

Do you want more? I don't. I'd often rather listen to / watch a youtube video than read most of the bullshit posts I see on MB. If I was into politics I'd vote 'no' on this poll.

If people who post only a video were required to type the name of the group and the song's title, then viewers who couldn't see the video due to it being blocked or unavailable would still know which song had been posted. This would solve the problem confronted by Tore that he mentioned above: a post with just a video can become a post devoid of information.

Since a moving picture is worth 100,000 words, I shall now express myself using a YouTube video like you did, Engine: ;)

Sesame Street - "What's the Name of that Song?"
^ See? Like this. Now everyone will know what follows.
"La dee da dee da, la dee da dee da, what's the name of that song?" :)

So what exactly are you trying to say here?

You want better posts? Why vote No against something that would try to ensure better constructed posts with more content.

Or are you saying that being here is a waste of time and you'd rather watch videos, in that case why are you here? Why not just visit Youtube & stay there instead?

YT doesn't have the collective musical knowledge that MB has.

Pretty sure Engine is j saying he'd rather have just videos then some throwaway comments tacked on to the end to appease a new rule. And that is what probably would end up happening if this rule would be made official.

I would say YT doesn't have the collection musical opinion of MB. Music knowldege is about the same for both sites, (there are videos of bands that have no threads on MB) there are a few poster on YT that are somewhat knowledgeable, it is just spread out amongst the millionths of videos they have. I would say seriously 99% is junk but some posts that are worth reading there is always someone who is an actual member or related to a band member of a band or had seen a band back in the 70s (or whenever) that would post an interesting comment. Sometimes it just fans just saying the same-ol'-same-ol' "this is real music" or "music today sucks."

I'm not going to judge one site over the other they are both regualr sites I visit regularly, but I hope MB retains it's distinct character and be a socialable place where one can get more into detail for their opinion about music, I really don't want to see MB become an auxilary YT site (and I feel this is what this thread is about or should be about).

So, what's it to be?

Well, clearly the community feels we shouldn't be banning, infracting, or deleting for video posts.

Some suggestions were made here in the thread that could potentially work, without punishing video posters, so hopefully we'll talk about those and come back with a compromise that doesn't affect anybody too negatively.

Oh snap:laughing: I just noticed this.
I'll answer each of your questions. Here's what I'm trying to say:

1) I don't need a larger quantity of good posts, I just ignore the bullshitty ones anyway. There are a lot of good posts on MB all the time. I'd vote No because I also like the only-video posts.

2) No, MB isn't a waste of my time. Like I said above, there's usually plenty of good / fun / informative posts on MB. I just happen to also like watching videos. I don't need commentary on all of them. And if I like a song I see in a video, I can look up its metadata on my own. In fact, I enjoy doing that because I may end up learning more than I will by reading the accompanying commentary posted on MB.

3) No, I'm not saying MB is a waste of my time. Why else would I keep reading it? I'm here because I like MB.

4) I do visit Youtube quite a bit and I don't see why I should choose between that and MB. Often MB leads me there - and then I spend a lot of time there just listening to / watching stuff. I'm not going to choose a favorite and 'stay there' - that makes no sense to me.

Good enough?

i think if someone wants proper discussion and valuable information they should start it themselves. you really can't control what other people will do or say but you can control what you will do or say.

as for the youtube videos, since that's the title of the thread, it's relative. the assumption is that the video contributes to the discussion. otherwise, why post it? so no, it shouldn't be automatically treated as spam.
