I am actually talking more about a corner where one can discuss promotion techniques, give each other advice on how to reach out and trade contacts, not the regular "hey, check out my ****" thread. (:

You're going to run into the same problem, people who come here to promote do so, and then leave and or get banned.

I think I understand where the forum is coming from on this, but at the same time, it seems like what Trick is saying is that there should be an area dedicated discussing musical careers from the point of view of a musician - rather than dedicated to promotion. Its a tricky line to walk honestly - but ideally it wouldn't be much different from threads about what equipment people use for example. Music business is turning into a serious area of study - I know my school has a one year program dedicated solely to developing and marketing music. Not sure how I feel about that, but its definitely fascinating.

edit: Looking at the structure of the forum it would probably fit into the artists corner area. Thats where it was before I'm guessing. The people who have been running the forum for years know best what works and what doesn't though - i would trust in their judgement.

As far as I am aware there isn't even a thread about that subject yet so I doubt that an entire forum needs to be dedicated to it.

I use the "new posts" tab to get around the forum, having it cluttered with spam nobody is going to read would be off putting.

To be honest I would think their are way better forums suited for what the OP wants. A forum dedicated to production and distribution of music.
