Default Closing of Threads

I feel that when a person posts a thread nobody but themselves and administrators should be able to close the threads.
I may have misunderstood myself but I had a thread closed. The person who closed it said I already had a thread posted like it but I don't. They must have mistaken me as someone else because I only posted the thread once.
May be I misunderstood that may be I didn't post the thread in the right place. The message I got though was "You already have posted a thread like this don't post another." Which to me sounds like they are saying I posted more then one of the same post which I DID NOT!!
I am very upset my thread was closed when I did nothing wrong.
I reported this to administrators but I don't know how long it takes for them to get back. If the do help at all.

Only moderators can close threads. They've been appointed to decide which threads to close. Yours was probably very similar to an existing thread, and thus you would have been asked to use it.

I wouldn't worry about it and just go on. Its really no big deal, it happens everyday.

I'm frankly surprised this is still open, at this rate.

I'm surprised you're still doing someone else's job for them

I wouldn't blame the Mods for closing this one after how well the Disappearing Posts thread is going.

Trying to be helpful to members wasn't a role I was given, it was a reason I was hired. It'd be dishonest if I stopped now.

What happened was you made the mistake of bumping your previous thread where you were looking for a song that was in the correct forum and then posted another thread right after it a different forum because you said in the second you were posting it elsewhere on the forum. With no hint in the title that it was a different song you were looking for I assumed you were starting a duplicate thread.

This made it look like you'd started 2 threads on the same subject, so one was closed. I don't have time to read every line of every piece of spam we get here to wonder if it's legitimate, the two threads looked the same to me at first glance so I deleted one. We're a music forum for people who want to discuss music, not a professional music finding service. Had you become a member and joined in the discussion this confusion wouldn't have happened.

I have reopened your second thread, if you have any further questions feel free to PM me.
