I've been checking the Weather Underground,
so I have a pretty good idea, but Kelowna,
Osoyoos and Nelson are the main stopping points.

The Okanagan (Kelowna and Osooyos) doesn't usually see its first snow until December, honestly. Nelson is a higher elevation, so there might be some snow on the passes, but it doesn't usually reach the valley until the end of October.

What's bringing you out here?

Good to get that pretty much confirmed. (Isn't it "Osoyoos"?)

Sounds like ADD, but I was originally going to go into Victoria and Nanaimo to
look at property (America has lost its mind), but I switched gears after just
getting back from Maine and decided to go into the Okanagan Valley and
environs to get some field recordings (and look at property there too).

Yeah it is, actually. Whatever, BC is full of silly names. It's pronounced "Oh-Sue-Yo-s" hence the confusion.

Victoria is a wonderful city and the goal is for me to die out there at the end of whatever. Kelowna... eh. It's nice. It's not awful, but it's expensive to live there and the people are flaky. Lived there for five years. It's not the goal to go back. That's just me though, got a lot of bad memories of the place that aren't its fault.

I love Nelson too. It's like a miniature Portland.

I'm sure you'll have a splendid time wherever you go though, because BC is the greatest place on earth when it's not engulfed in fires you can see from space.

Have been to Victoria and Nanaimo a couple of times and liked it a lot each time, but it was in the late 90s.
There was a record store in Nanaimo where Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth) would sell and trade his LPs.

I'll see how I feel about those three places (and others in the path, like Vernon) afterwards,
but I'm a bit drawn to Nelson because it reminds me a little of Silver City, New Mexico -
an artist town of 10,000 people with 30 art galleries. People there tell my wife and I
that we really should come move there because we would fit their "eccentric" lifestyle
(remember "Northern Exposure"?). Instead, I have a radio show on their local station.
When the time comes, it'll be easier to move, I think, because I'm already a Canadian citizen.
