Music Banter - Missing Posters Bulletin Board

I think a lot of people struggle with finding the "right" thing to say and end up staying silent when in actuality the most helpful thing is usually just listening and empathizing. Just like any therapist you're job isn't to solve their problems, but rather to listen and offer validation. When I go to a friend to vent I'm not looking for solutions, I'm looking for solidarity and the reminder that I'm cared for.

My mom has never understood this so I can never talk to her about anything. She always wants to solve the problem. Sometimes I just wanna vent about my day. I tend to go to my dad since he actually listens.

Yeah

I guess it’s case by case what people want but if I explain a problem to someone it’s because I’m interested in what they think my best course of action is. Sometimes it’s pointless because there is no solution. In those situations I tell my dog who usually suggests I give her some treats to help get my mind off my woes.
