OK, Key. I hope things work themselves out for you. Take it easy, and don't worry - we'll still be here if and when you feel like returning.

I'm famous for doing this. You get to a point where it's more like a job than a hobby, and whatever else is going on in your life, you need to concentrate on that and just give yourself time. So yeah, take a break and relax; the place will still be here when you get back - as long as Batty stops playing with that Zippo near those gas pum...

Whats the issue with Frownland? Am I missing something? I agree with sentiment that this forum has slowed down a ton. Is it really needed for more mods? I think I've been a mod for more than 10 years with a couple of breaks in between (while still modded) for a very good (very personal) reason. I mainly just focus on bots and spam rather than getting involved in drama on here now.

JWB was "just asking questions" to undermine a conversation about trans people, as he has done before, and these boobs can't see it and think Frown bated him into saying something ban worthy even though they can't point to anything JWB said that would have gotten him banned so they're just using this as a proxy for their own grievances with Frown.

Yeah that's right we all hate Frown.

Hi Jess!

In fact, the issue was that our person who lives in a land where they don't do much smiling at all got involved in a discussion with jwb, kept needling him and then decided to PERMA-ban him. Not so bad maybe if he had only temp banned him, but no, permaban.

Frown was seen, rightly, to have abused his power as a mod for his own personal gain, and this was what set a lot of us after him, despite what Batty would have you believe.

You mean they were disagreeing with one another in MB fashion as has happened countless times without Frown banning people? If he got baited into saying something ban worthy then what was it? If it was just Frown banning him for disagreeing with him then is that a pattern Frown is known for? None of you have made an explicit accusation of what Frown did other than vaguely pointing at FROWN BAD over a heated debate, which happen all the time on this forum without banning.

Is it possible that you're just clueless about the transphobic subtext of the argument and are leaping to an erroneous conclusion based on past prejudice?

No we're not clueless. The fact is that, if a mod is involved in a discussion, and something is said that they believe ban-worthy, then they should dissociate themselves from the debate, perhaps drop a warning, not permaban the person they were arguing with. And anyway, you know Frown had a big arrogant smile on his face when he hit the button: he was just waiting for the chance. That's what he's llke; abuse of power. It was very personal with him, and that's wrong. Mods are supposed to be impartial.

Jess, you'll get nothing unbiased out of Batty (nor, probably me) as we both have our minds made up. I'd suggest talking to other mods - WWWP seems to know all about it - and see what their position is on it. TBF, neither Batty nor I are mods (perish the thought!) and neither of us have access to the mod cave, so we don't really know how it went down. Frown may have told Bat but that would of course be weighting the story on his side, so to get the full story I imagine speaking to the others. It just seemed like a dick move to me, but then, what do I know?

This entire post is the wild imaginings of a Victorian-era diarist.
