Grammatically, a fullstop is used to finish a sentence. It should not be used in isolation when there is nothing to be stopped.

I think in Plankton's usage, it' not actually a full stop. It is commonly used as "point" as in point well taken, that's the point, or in case in point.

^ Yeah, I've never quite worked out exactly what it means; some people seem to use it to mean "I agree completely" - or maybe they' re saying "that's a good point."
Is it just an MB thing, or is it used on other forums?

I assume it indicates that some retort or argument made is so good and poignant, that it ends the discussion and nothing further can or should be added.
This resolution is signified by the period. As if the whole argument was a sentence which is being finalized.

Thanks, that makes sense !

The bit in bold is a pretty vain hope on MB, as discussions often drift on forever. *checks to see if " . " has ever concluded a discussion*

I searched "." and I couldn't find any.

The Batlord 02-09-2016 07:59 AM

You're thinking about it too much. It's just agreeing with a statement while putting forth as little of a post yourself because it is unnecessary. A period is the smallest character on your keyboard, so it is the natural choice. At least that's how I always saw it.

Does this mean that you have the almighty power to bring my avatar to a respectable size? With no trauma to my lack of tech skills??

My only complaint is that at this size, the important albeit subtle nuances of kitty's expression are lost.

Both of you have the 'almighty power' to do this yourselves. Problem is that small digital images can become blurred or pixelated when enlarged. If you'd care to enlighten yourselves, here's a good primer on it:

I appreciate the link, but I'd much prefer to just bitch about it in passing :)
