Member Journals

Is there a way to give trusted members the ability to approve their own journal posts? Or is it feasible to do away with that requirement?

Key 12-30-2018 07:15 PM

Or just have patience

windsock 12-30-2018 08:02 PM

Shut up, Kiii.

Key 12-30-2018 08:07 PM

Ur rite

WWWP 12-30-2018 08:10 PM

I hope there is, I think it's a reasonable request tbh. I know it's been suggested before, I'll do some digging and consult with the mod cave and see why this isn't/hasn't been/can't be a thing.

[MERIT] 12-30-2018 08:12 PM

I brought this up in the past. I'm pretty sure that the consensus was that mods have no control over this, and that admins don't care or return correspondence.

WWWP 12-30-2018 08:12 PM

^ that's my suspicion as well

Key 12-30-2018 09:01 PM

I think it just sort of happened when the journal section was made and it just never got changed. I think it was needed back then but now it's outdated.

OccultHawk 12-30-2018 09:40 PM

I like the anticipation

It’s like someone posted in my journal!

**** yeah it was me!!!

Oriphiel 12-31-2018 02:09 AM

Maybe Lady Yacquita will listen to our pleas, and deliver us unto the golden age of journals.

I guess we could do away with that feature, but I know form experience it has been useful before. Trolls like to abuse it.
I know the system isn't ideal but I'm afraid there is nothing I can do about it.

Just make a regular thread instead of a journal. Problem solved.

Remove the journal function and all journals made with it so far!

Not really, because you cannot, as thread starter, get posts removed that you don't want like you can in your own journal. If OH comes into my journal and takes a dump, I can get a mod to clean it up.

You can do that in any of your threads. It's just that nobody does it.

No. We delete posts from regular threads at our own discretion, but you cannot request a post be deleted unless it's in your journal.

The Batlord 01-02-2019 02:28 PM

Nah I've seen people request a cleanup in other threads and gotten them. I mean Addidasss isn't gonna get any posts deleted in the Your Day thread but on a thread that's clearly your thread it would be pretty arbitrary to say no.

Unitron 01-02-2019 03:28 PM

What if there was a post limit made for the journals? Like once you reach 100 posts or something like that you can post without requiring mod permission, would that work?

I've seen the opposite many times. I've even had posts deleted in certain threads that I've made.

The Batlord 01-02-2019 03:42 PM

Yeah so WWWP is just a basic bitch mod.

WWWP 01-02-2019 04:20 PM

I'll rephrase - as the owner of a journal you get much more say in what gets posted in said journal. In a regular thread, sure, it can happen, but you don't have the same entitlements and ownership of a regular thread you start as you do a journal.

For example, those dark side of k pop videos you posted were not removed at the OP's request because as a general music thread, K Addict does not have ownership of that thread as he would if it were a journal.

Cuthbert 01-02-2019 04:25 PM

Get rid of post approval and let the mods take care of any trolling. That's what they're there for.

This has definitely happened.

Yep. And we know that if we give permission to trusted users then Jguy's gonna be right back on the forum posting his sensual furry sketches.

Zhanteimi 01-02-2019 05:07 PM

Ew. Tell me more.

If you're gonna not treat my requests for this non-journal thread the same way you would a journal then **** you.

If you asked me to delete a post and I found the request to be reasonable I would do it

Like am I really still explaining this

Now this makes more sense. I always felt there was a bit more freedo with journals so that makes sense too. You win this time WWWP.

Zhanteimi 01-02-2019 11:07 PM

I've got two posts pending and wish I could just approve them myself.

Zhanteimi 01-02-2019 11:08 PM

If MB had a mod in Japan, they'd have round-the-clock moderation.

WWWP 01-02-2019 11:31 PM

How long did you each end up waiting?

Zhanteimi 01-02-2019 11:31 PM

Not long. I was just bitching needlessly. :)

So in other words I was right the whole time and you can have a journal outside the journal section and still get it moderated at your discretion. Step off.

OccultHawk 01-03-2019 04:40 AM

If it’s a journal it’s at your discretion if it’s a thread it’s at hers.

Requesting post removals is a bitch ass weaksauce mordly thing to do anyway.

Zhanteimi 01-03-2019 04:42 AM

I added to Random Radio one night - a bit after 10 CST -
and it didn't go up until around 10 the next morning.
No complaints because I just went to bed, but still, a reality.

Zhanteimi 01-03-2019 04:56 AM

You can coordinate that with the mods in a normal thread as well.

Not according to WWWP
