You should get "Merriweather Post Pavillion" next, but if you want more screaming and **** then get "Strawberry Jam".

Thanks, I'll try Merriweather because I don't particularly want more screaming and ****.
|
Well, just to give you an idea of how they incorporate screaming/yelling into their music... so please don't rule out "Strawberry Jam" because of it.
|
Oh no, I'm not ruling it out. I'm just putting it off I guess. I enjoyed that though so I'll probably end up downloading it as well as Merriweather.

While I don't think "Merriweather Post Pavillion" is "the best album of the 00"s" as some overzealous fans and critics would have it, and in fact don't think any band or album can hold such a position, it is a remarkable album. I agree that isolated tracks on the earlier albums are better than any of the isolated tracks on the latest album, but agree that it is their most consistent work.

This may be a rather silly idea, but I would nonetheless be interested to see how folks out there rank the later AC albums since everyone seems to have a most favourite and least favourite. For me, the list descends as follows (not counting the EP Water Curses).
1.) Feels (a gentle album) 2.) Merriweather Post Pavillion (for consistency of vision and fewer extreme/jarring bizarrities) 3.) Sung Tongs ("Winter's Love" is, for me, the best individual AC track) 4.) Strawberry Jam 5.) Person Pitch (Panda Bear) I haven't heard the new Dan Deacon album, so I have not included it here. |
