Animal Collective

grass is a great song to get up too, but other than that their pretty weak.

IndiElectronica 06-01-2006 05:46 AM

a band i've seen live twice and thought were pretty good... but at same time never bother listenening to the albums my friend let me borrow...

Sound Devastation 06-01-2006 05:49 AM

i love animal collecttive! theyre pretty much my ideal indie band.

old albums are pretty unlistenable though.

swim 09-06-2006 06:53 PM

They're pretty. Their listener friendly songs aren't listener friendly. I like all their stuff.

Urban Hat€monger ? 09-06-2006 06:54 PM

I was listening to them earlier.

They remind me a lot of early Mercury Rev & Flaming Lips

spencermiles 09-22-2006 02:42 PM

I realy like their two most recent albums. However, saw them live at The Fillmore this winter and couldn't stand them. I'm all for experimental music, but this was just too much.

enemyat_thesix 10-10-2006 07:41 AM

I generally enjoy noiserock. However, Animal Collective is one of the genre's weaker acts, in my opinion.

Sweet Jane 10-12-2006 04:06 AM

The Four Tet remixes of one of two or their songs are pretty nice

IndiElectronica 10-12-2006 08:07 AM

as are most four tet remixes... his style is pretty much the same on all his remixes, but he does pick/get good songs to do!

Have you heard his late night tales compilation ?

I bought a whole load of albums based on stuff I`ve heard on that.

Animal Collective is one of my favorite acts these days. Campfire Songs and Sung Tongs are their two best albums. As a live band they are also entertaining, especially if you're tripping on drugs.

Also, you gotta love that they worked with Vashti Bunyan on the Prospect Hummer EP. Vashti is my favorite female musician of all time, and her songs are great. Love classics like "Diamond Day," "Glow Worms," "Timothy Grub," "I'd Like To Walk Around In Your Mind," etc, etc, etc. Not to mention her recent album.

And if you like Animal Collective, Panda Bear's album is great too.

This is probably the best post I have read on this forum. Good f*cking game sir. I tip my hat to you. Vashti Bunyan is amaaazzziiinnngggggggg

thought id bring up this topic to say...

i picked up the 2xCD release of 'Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished / Danse Matanee' today and listening to it now... i must say im enjoying it a whole lot more than i used to.

it was placed in the Noise/Avant Garde section of my local record shop away from Feels and Sung Tongs in the indie section and quite rightly so.. both the albums are about as far away from 'Grass' as you can get.. still awesome stuff though! definately one of my favourite bands...

anyone heard the new live album?

postmodernprincess 03-24-2007 07:12 AM

has anyone seen them live? I'm going to in May...I'm really excited

sleepy jack 07-02-2007 08:09 PM

Animal Collective is hot, i'm seeing them in september. Prospect Hummer is amazing, feels is good too.

Pitchfork: Animal Collective Prep "Peacebone" Single

The Dave 07-03-2007 10:27 AM

All I have is Feels and it's pretty damn good, what other albums of theirs would you all reccomend?

pheurton 07-03-2007 11:34 AM

I prefer Panda Bear on his own.

PopIsDead 07-06-2007 10:20 PM

I think I like anything Animal Collective related. One of my friends lent me Feels and it took me a while to get into it, but once I got into it, it was amazing. I later got some more of their stuff from friends. One of my best friends is a huge Animal Collective fan, so I get stuff from him.

Ornette 07-07-2007 10:31 AM

New album leaked and I like it a lot. A lot of good poppy type stuff, with a healthy dose of weird noises.

Sparky 07-07-2007 12:42 PM

^up it

Ornette 07-07-2007 02:32 PM

Alright

^^New album.

Sound Devastation 07-07-2007 04:29 PM

YAY!

hmmm... i havent been in the mood for this kind of music for a while, might leave it a few weeks before i listen.

Any good, btw?

Ornette 07-07-2007 05:07 PM

Yeah it's actually pretty solid. I'm not a huge fan of any of their previous records, so this is their most consistent release to me.

Sound Devastation 07-08-2007 01:19 PM

i was going to wait a bit but i didnt... been listening to it today. first impressions:

Lots of electronics.. hmmm
Vocals not quite as striking or frail as previous releases..
Its mostly full of upbeat happy songs.. whearas Feels had more avant-garde tracks mixed in.
Its very consistent, but not very varied considering their previous work..
The songs are great, but im missing the darker, quieter 'magical' parts that Feels had.. favourite songs at the mo i think are at the end of the album.. Winter Wonder Land and Derek.. Fireworks is awesome too...

OK i havent been in the mood for them at all recently, but i still love them :D

Ornette 07-08-2007 04:25 PM

I like the opener, Chores, and Fireworks a lot.

oilephant 07-08-2007 08:16 PM

animal collective is amazing. it may take a couple listens to get into the groove, but its well worth it, imo

sleepy jack 10-01-2007 05:57 PM

Pitchfork: Animal Collective Are Corrupting Our Nation's Youth!

ell ohh ell

The Dave 10-01-2007 06:19 PM

Lmao, that's great.

Kevorkian Logic 10-01-2007 06:43 PM

I like this band much, Sung Tongs being the album I like the most.

I almost went to their concert a couple of days ago, but **** came up.

sleepy jack 10-01-2007 06:44 PM

It's good you didn't they would've corrupted you.

Kevorkian Logic 10-01-2007 07:03 PM

why?

because the location they gave did not exist, no one ever heard of the Polaris club or the address.

What kind of scheme are you running.....

I will find someone to listen and have your organization investigated, you endangered several young adults on Saturday night.

I hope your child never goes thru what hell you put ours thru,
I hope you rot in hell, or is that were your from!

I missed that post.

Sound Devastation 10-03-2007 07:12 PM

sounds awesome! id love to see them live :D

The Gash 10-04-2007 05:16 PM

Just saw them live a couple of weeks ago. About 1/3 of the stuff that they played was new (and ridiculously good) . I think Avey and Panda are two of the most talented singers out there.

GravitySlips 10-04-2007 05:18 PM

seeing them in November

sleepy jack 10-04-2007 05:21 PM

I kind of feel ripped off, when I saw Animal Collective there wasn't any men trying to lure me away.

positivenegative 10-15-2007 06:25 PM

One of my favourite bands. Purple Bottle, Winter's Love, Leaf House are awesome songs.

Sound Devastation 10-20-2007 12:40 AM

come across someone on Slsk who had something called 'Spinning on Air'... anyone know what this is?

also.. is the collab w/coco rosie any good?
