Merriweather is pop album of the year, for sure. First time through it seemed useless. But I decided to keep 'My Girls' around because I liked it. Listened to it a couple of times, and it went on to 'Also Frightened' because I didn't stop it, and I began to like the whole album. In comparison to other Animal Collective albums, it's very straightforward, but it makes it all the better.

On the other hand, Feels has a few good songs and a lot of trash. Strawberry Jam is good from what I've heard, though. If Animal Collective continues on with their pop route, they're bound to get some (more?) musical history attached to their name.

When the **** is Deakin gonna come back? It's been a good three years and there is still no word on his return.

Really? I think their live shows suck now. He's only been absent from the band for one album (not counting the albums before he announced his leave) and I didn't find MWPP all that great, 4 good songs can't hold up an album.

I phrased that poorly.

If they keep making the good pop music they made of MPP, they're bound to gain a lot of shelf-life, notoriety and long-lasting fame. As in, they'll gain historic musical promise. Which is what I'd want of them. I wouldn't consider myself an Animal Collective fan, but MPP is great, and I know it.

There are actually 10 GREAT songs on MPP. You must not have listened to it intently. :\

11* :P

It would be nice if they put out a few more records of the glitchy experimental stuff like the older albums, but I really like what they did with MPP, its a great album and I wouldn't complain if thats the direction they're planning to go in.
