I went in not knowing about the praise... I think pitchfork does ruin alot of bands ya know? My favorite albums in order are... "Feels", "Here Comes The Indian", "Sung Tongs", and "Merriweather Post Pavillon".

Just a heads up man, don't ever listen to what critics say as they can give you a bad impression about a band, without you even giving them a hear-hear.

I only listen to film critics.. if a film has a % of less than 50 I doubt I'll watch it. I used to never listen to them but after a while I realised they were right. music critics are different though, I think you can tell a bad film a mile off but albums are somehow different.. dunno how but I think they are

There's obvious criteria to judge a film on though, ie plot and script,the mechanics of filmaking(ie no major continuity errors or shoddy production values),acting,use of music, etc.
Music reviewing is a completely different ball game.
