As for Mogwai's genre placement. I can see how it sounds "soundtracky", but for the most part, I listen to music like this because of it's ambiance and the mellow atmosphere that comes with it. The best, though, is when it unexpectedly gets heavy and completely throws you off. When I first listened to Young Blood, I wasn't impressed at all. It wasn't until the second or third time that I began hearing things I hadn't heard before. |

I nearly had a heart attack when I first listened to Like Herod. Especially the live version on the Government Comissions record. I made the mistake of listening to it for the first time through in-ear phones and the volume turned all the way up. I really wish I'd known it kicked in, and that I wasn't on the metro surrounded by loads of people looking at me when I found out.
