Yo douchebag what happened? You just kind of disappeared... I really like TIFTO, I just found your stuff. You took all your music down too so no one can pay for it.

pretty much all of it is online for free. i'm still making music but not much worth releasing recently.

I can never find Avant Garde shows! they are impossible to find. What is the deal!

just wrote this new song yesterday, i'd be interested to see what you think:

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

(it's called on becoming digital)

i put that song and a new one called metamorphosis up on myspace. the link is in my sig. any feedback, as always, is appreciated.

Very amazing, as usual. I really enjoyed the dark intro to On Becoming Digital that slowly builds up to something a bit more melancholy than just dark (if that makes the slightest bit of sense). I love the sudden switch into the digital side of the song as well, you manage to go from a nice, gloomy piano tune into a very glitchy, experimental sound without losing anything from the feel of the song. My only critique would be the end of the song; I didn't like how it just seemed to suddenly drop off. But that may have been what you were going for. It did sort of work because suddenly the song became digital about halfway through, and suddenly it was over at the end; no warning either time.

Metamorphosis I actually liked more. For the first couple seconds, I wasn't sure, but I like the slow build up of the keyboard part and jazzy bass line. At the addition of the heavy distortion and drums I found myself thinking this was honestly better than a lot of the new music I've heard lately. I absolutely loved the speedy, glitchy, distorted keyboard sound that kicks in at a little after 2 minutes. The ensuing build up moves toward chaos while holding on well to the melody and sound of the song. I don't really have criticism on this piece, to be honest. If you really want something, I guess the drum part could be evolved a bit more, but it's fine the way it is.

And sorry, I completely missed this thread when you linked the song.

wow, thanks i really appreciate your comments. i do enjoy the abruptness of on becoming digital, even though it is a little abrasive. i might put up another song later today, i'm kind of on a creative kick again.

De nada. I wish I could fit all the pieces together like that.

I think Metamorphosis was good. The sounds themselves are very enjoyable, and it is a more uplifting piece compared to some of your others stuff. The only thing I think it lacks is an overall catchy atmosphere. I can appreciate what you do with the music and I enjoy listening to it, but listening to it itself is more of a challenge then I think it should be. I think we think differently on this thought because you are into Merzbow and that stuff. I like my fair share of experimental/noise rock. What I don't like is when I am expected to listen to 5 minutes of bland noise and be expected to enjoy listening to it like I enjoy listening to the Talking Heads, singing the melodies and playing the rhythms over and over in my head. That is really the only thing I see lacking in your music. You have everything else and your music definitely sounds like it is coming from you. It is just that after I am done listening to one of your songs, including this one, it is like I hardly remember listening to it.

You could keep it the same way and it would still be enjoyable, but to me nothing would strike as amazing or out-of-this-world.

cardboard adolescent 11-06-2009 07:27 PM

well, none of the songs really go anywhere. it's kind of the point. it's also me not wanting to learn chord progressions. hm....
