Default Earth

I searched the forums but couldn't find a mention of these guys, which is odd considering how many of you are doom fans. Earth takes doom and its implications to an extreme though... no drums just one riff blasted out hypnotically for seventeen minutes without end.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard Earth, so share the love. I would upload something but I only have earth 2 on lp.

One of the bands that I keep hearing things about, but never have heard.

earth started as a tribute to black sabbath (sabbaths original name was earth)... Sunn0)) follows in earths footsteps as an earth tribute band. They don't just play long drawn out stuff either, though that is the way their newer stuff has gone. Great musicians, great stuff.

Earth aren't a doom band, well certainly not now.

Earth 2 is a classic drone metal album, obviously the main lynchpin of the genre.

Hex and the new album are both excellent, but they're very far removed from the long drone tracks on Earth 2. It's a very different sound, but still interesting and fresh.

Next month I'm seeing them live, with SIR RICHARD BISHOP of Sun City Girls supporting. I cannot f'ucking wait!
