![]() ![]() Peter Brotzmann Octet- Machine Gun 1. Machne Gun 2. Responsible 3. Music For Han Bennink I just bought this record today. I'm pretty new to free jazz but... holy God... this record is amazing. There are not words to describe the sounds that are recorded on this album. The inside cover has this definition: machine gun- automatic gun for fast, continuous firing. This is a pretty perfect description of this record. Fast continuous firing of Bari and Tenor Sax, Piano, Bass and Drums. There are also some other inexplicable noises that tease the ears throughout. Most people will hate this music. In fact, it is a lot more abrasive than almost all metal I've heard... I'm sure this could be up for debate. This is supposedly the "classic" European Free-Jazz record. All lovers of fun, loud noises and Avant Jazz (I suppose these are the same thing) need to own this record.

I started one. I’m working on it. My personal top 50 wouldn’t be that interesting
and there’s lots of essential jazz lists What I want to make is a list of 50 in a recommended order for listening Not chronological but starting out in the middle and branching out from there mixing a combination of this led to that led to this and also bouncing around drastically to keep people from getting bored
