i honestly think it all had to do with pushing the audience to transgress their own moral structures.....its all art.....i think attempting to dig to far into this is a dead end road.....much like the protests of Death In June and Boyd Rice....these people have a preconceived notion of what these artist are....yet they've never even bothered to listen to the music itself.....rather they assume that anybody who would dress a certain way and or admire certain aesthetics.....i also love the irony that an anti-fascist group is censoring other peoples rights to express themselves.....seriously think aboput it....its funny

I forgot about those Boyd Rice protests. Has he been doing anything since then? Kinda feels like he disappeared after that.

Anyway I came here to inform you all that TG's discography is on Spotify now.

Other people bump threads for little reason, don't they? That's what I'm doing, just to mention that I'm discovering Throbbing Gristle, years after dankrsta, bob and the likes. Janszoon, years ago as well, mentioned that it's good lying-on-a-bed music, but I'm discovering that it's great driving music too.

Unlike the earlier posters in this thread, I'm discovering TG music in the post-album world of Youtube, and can recommend the live material on a series of IRC cassettes, like this one, which is #18:-

Other TG performances are on IRC #8 and #16, all of which are recorded live in the UK in 1978 or 9. Who or what are ICR? Anyone else come across ICR cassette material ?

That seems to be their indexing system in the Industrial Records Catalogue.

^ Hey, thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Stephen !
If anyone else is as ignorant/curious as me, they can read about Industrial Records here:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_Records

It turns out that Throbbing Gristle have about 30 releases on IRC, including the most-mentioned albums in this thread, which in chronological order are Second Annual Report, D.o.A. and 20 Jazz Funk Greats.

And btw, here's a great description of TG from a reviewer on that AllMusic website:- "...the sound of a gray day in a British tower block after all the drugs have run out."

On a related note Genesis P Orridge has tentatively scheduled a tour with Psychic TV that may or may not go ahead depending on his recovery from leukemia.
