I just wanna say mad props for recommending In Guts House. I thought I was the only one that liked no-wave

I wouldn't call Metallica avant garde or experimental at all. They're a great band, I saw them for a fiver a few years ago (lucky me) but they ain't a band that fits herein.

I recently discovered a band called "What?!". They do some really cool stuff.
Not sure what the genre would be, but it's like a mix of experimental, psychedelic, instrumental music. They mix genres like jazz, post-rock, reggae, and anything in between..
And have you heard of Mark Guiliana's Beat Music? That's some badass stuff too!

Anyone heard Sonja Berlin-Jones? Seems to have recently retired but all her stuff is free download on her bandcamp.

Ranging from ambient to noise.

Loving Argentinian synth guy Oliwa too!

I have decided to get into Sun Ra because I listened to it on Youtube and really enjoyed it. I have downloaded his album Sound of Joy but is there any others that I would really benefit from listening to?
