Tolerated it? Yes. Not my cup of tea. I also abhor peas. And fatty lamb chops. The mint jelly is cool though.

I heard he'll be dropping a pop banger any day now.

I was to lazy to write a discription so i stole this from AURAL INNOVATIONS :), The Musik Von Tone Float album is a collaboration between members of VDO, "VAS DEFERENS ORGANIZATION" Ohm, and Mazinga Phaser. The best description I can muster up for this disc is like the Residents playing minimalist electronic Krautrock. Most of the tunes are primarily electronic driven, but the whole thing still has an exploratory feel. Lots of freaky space synths combine with good fun sounds and all around controlled chaos. My favorite track is "Vapourspace Lookinglass", a sonic journey that is simultaneously disturbXu94dfP5-ing and meditative. Sort of like King Crimson meets Can

Here's a sample of a outfit called "smooth quality excrement" yes that is not a type O that is the name of the band and it's off the album "bird and truck collission" i personaly love this album at full noise not to sure if my neighbores apreciat it as much as i do.

and some vas deferens organization, unfortunatly i was unable to put my favirite track "muz "
on here cause youtube only tacks tracks under ten minutes but this is still a good track to me anyway, hope yiz enjoy them.

As Ozric Tentacles, Phish and Tangerine Dream have also been cited in this thread, I don't think the weird factor is particularly high, and what I have been focusing on is music that...

I find a lot of free jazz and other stuff too weird to be enjoyable, but luckily listening to weird music is not a competition afaik.

The OP doesnt say anything about liking it, they're just on the hunt for the bizarre.

Trawling back through this thread:-

At first I was fascinated, but then it became unbearable (I'm not sure if that's a bad or a good thing). The other album that I have, You Walk Alone (1988) is much more accessible.

^ Heard about Jandek from MB, but he's in the " too-weird-for-me" category, and dankrsta's post doesn't encourge furthur exploration.

I like The Residents for the fact they are weird as well as listenable (usually) ..

I get a bit tired of the fact that weird almost always means eerie or spooky. That's not necessarily a feeling which is very hard to evoke in people, I think. Neither do I think it really requires vast amount of creativity compared to other ways of being creative with music.

^ tore makes a good point, and as if to illustrate it, this was posted soon afterwards:-

^ Dressing up to appear spooky has ceased to be weird, imo.

^ These guys don't sound weird to me either. Have the goalposts of weird really moved so much in the 8 years since this thread was started? Weird or not, this is a good track imo.

A different way of being weird, ( rather than trying to be spooky ) is the off-beat homely weird that Syd Barratt and Daniel Johnston are famous for, both of whom, alas, are famous for having mental problems as well. :(

Of course breaking normal aesthetic rules is one way to be weird, but another way to find weird is to dip into a culture whose aesthetic is weird to us to begin with:-
