So like, that song's about statutory rape right?

Yes, of a 12th century nun after she went on a killing spree, sung through the eyes of a pope who had a larger porn collection than Jesus himself!

I still don't understand why people think TMR is difficult. It's got difficult stuff going on I'm sure, but it's still pretty accessible on the whole afaic. When I finally listened to it I was honestly kind of floored by just how fun it was right off the bat(lord).

It seems unintentionally messy to the untrained ear.

But I don't even have a trained ear by any stretch of the ****ing imagination. I just know fun **** when I hear it.

I went with the VU. The Velvet Underground and Nico is one of my landmark albums. Captain Beefheart always reminded me of Zappa though admittedly I've listened to a lot more of Zappa.

Actual Frank Zappa quote made in conversation with Barbara Bush.

they're both pretty overhyped tbf, but yeah i would rather listen to Beefheart simply bc he challenges me way more and i still don't have much of a grasp on his sound despite listening to him off/on over the last year and a half to two years.

neither are favourites of mine, but i think they're very good at what they do and respect them for it. i'm just curious as to why you have such a hard on for hating Zappa, he's got some pretty good stuff.

edit - oh i missed your last line. yeah i dunno, i'll just revert to my original post i suppose.

TMR isn't as accessible as VU&N but the former is way cooler all in all and the latter has those Nico songs that I could give a **** about. But those awesome songs from VU&N are the absolute ****, so I'll split the difference and give the win to White Light/White Heat.
